"Most of the ultra-processed food that you find are higher in salt, fat and sugar. The $128 billion British food and beverage industry is the largest manufacturing sector in the country, employing more than 400,000 people. "We are calling for food sector companies to report a set of health and sustainability metrics that would be on a mandatory basis," said Sophie Lawrence, who leads a group of investors called the Investor Coalition for Food Policy, managing assets worth $7 trillion. I listened to a mix of human narrators and AI voices in a blind test to guess which ones were real. The voice sounded vaguely familiar to some more neutral voice actors I had listened to before. I thought this was AI too, but my colleague who also heard it was insistent it was a human voice. Overall, it was relatively easy to tell which ones were narrated by an AI voice, but I didn't find the synthesized voices off-putting. Although the human voices were nicer to listen to, I'd also be happy opting for an AI audiobook if there wasn't another option.

CNN —There are signs that the United Kingdom could be heading into a fall Covid-19 wave, and experts say the United States may not be far behind. A recent increase in Covid-19 cases in England doesn’t seem to be driven by a new coronavirus variant, at least for now, although several are gaining strength in the US and across the pond. Spector runs the Zoe Health Study, which uses an app to let people in the UK and US report their daily symptoms. After seeing a downward trend for the past few weeks, the Zoe study saw a 30% increase in reported Covid-19 cases within the past week. In the US, some models have predicted that Covid-19 cases will begin to rise again in October and continue to increase into the winter.
